Christopher Patrick Turner was born June 20, 1984 in Baton Rouge, LA near the Mid-City and Downtown art districts. His mother noticed his unique God-given talent as an artist at an early age. He was tested and enrolled in East Baton Rouge Talented Arts Program from 6th grade until he graduated grade school. During his time in the program, he was included in many projects and shows in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas, including the following:
Christopher was chosen from a group of gifted students to paint a mural in downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana covering two 10’x10’ walls on an outside stage:
BATON ROUGE 2020:
A "Value of Opportunity with a World of Possibility" a kaleidoscope of the future (Baton Rouge in the year 2020 through the eyes of our next community leaders... our children.) Middle School student artists from the Talented Arts Program in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System were selected to give life to the vision. The partnership of Forum 35, the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, the Project Sponsors, Donors and Volunteers are proud to dedicate the "visual legacy", a gift from our most precious resource... our children to the Baton Rouge Community.
Christopher participated every year in the East Baton Rouge Parish Talented Arts Program Spring Show & Fall Show, Louisiana State Archives — Baton Rouge:
The Louisiana State Archives hosted the East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s Talented Art Program Annual Art Show. The program employs local artists to serve as teachers for the approximately 250 students identified as having high potential and demonstrated skill and creativity in the visual arts. Students are introduced to and instructed in a wide variety of media.
Christopher said, “While enrolled in the program I learn so much, so many styles and so many techniques. I feel that it made my God given talent go to the next level. It made me a better artist. I never tried to imitate my teachers, but I took something from each one and applied it to my style.
“My art celebrates life, love, culture, and soul. I can do so much. People always ask me, what’s your favorite thing to do? I don’t have a favorite style; I love abstracts, paintings, drawings, digital arts, mixed media. My style is like a big gumbo it’s a mixture of all and put together to make a wonderful dish.”
After a five year hiatus, Christopher began creating artwork in February of 2009, and in just a year has enjoyed considerable success. He is the exclusive artist for Posh Chic Hair Salon and Gallery, 245 N Acadian Thruway, Baton Rouge, LA, (225) 334-7674. He is also displaying his artwork at Rue Cou Cou Gallery, 1857 Government St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802, (225) 343-9722, and at a host of other shows and events in the southern United States.
