- COOL ART. SMOOTH JAZZ. FEATURING CHRISTOPHER P. TURNER & SCOTT CAMPBELL BATON ROUGE—Acclaimed painter and muralist Christopher P. Turner and saxophonist Scott Campbell will be featured on Friday, Sept 10 during TSUNAMI and CHRISTOPHER TURNER’s Cool Art. Smooth Jazz, which will blend the best of art and music on the best roof top in Baton Rouge, La. Christopher Turner, is presenting a new stream of upscale entertainment that plans to showcase contemporary visual art and jazz, national and local artists in Baton Rouge and other metropolitan areas nationwide. Visual artist and professional muralist Christopher P. Turner has been painting since childhood. Though Turner has been painting professionally since 2009, his work has already earned him success and praise. Turner has showcased his work at Posh Chic Hair Salon, Rue Cou Cou Gallery and The Main Artery, and a host of other shows and events in Baton Rouge, including live painting sessions during a Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra concert and several Soul Refined concerts. On June 19, 2010, Christopher P. Turner was involved in a near fatal eighteen-wheeler crash while driving home from Alabama. The crash provided inspiration for Turner's first major work, a new collection that will be completed in August. This powerful collection entitled Pure Emotions is composed primarily of contemporary abstracts with vivid colors. It will also include light pastels done in acrylics along with some mixed media works. This event will also be the opening reception for Christopher P. Turner newest collection. Scott Campbell, Graduate Assistant in woodwinds at Southeastern Louisiana University, began playing saxophone at age 10. As a student he has received many talent based scholarships and performed throughout the world. He has also world premiered multiple pieces written for saxophone and performed in both regional and national conferences. As a freelance musician, Scott has performed and soloed with various musical groups in the Southeastern Louisiana region and as a soloist is available for banquets, weddings, social events and functions. Scott Campbell is woodwind doubler who performs and teaches saxophone, clarinet and flute. Please join Christopher Turner as he creates a live painting to the live music of solo, multi-instrumentalist, Scott Campbell. This event will be free and open to the public, which will be held at Tsunami Sushi Restaurant, 6th floor at the Shaw Center, 100 Lafayette Street in downtown Baton Rouge. TSUNAMI & CHRISTOPHER P.
