- Description
- Joy Vandervort Cobb’s stunning one-woman show MOMENTS OF JOY, will be performed in a special guest appearance run, September 9-19th in the Studio Theatre, located in the M&DA Building on LSU campus. Her wonderful work as a director has been seen at Swine Palace (King Hedley II, Fences and Ma’ Rainey’s Black Bottom). Now LSU Theatre brings her inspirational work as a solo performer to the stage. Joy Vandervort Cobb takes us on a journey from her radiant childhood, to L.A. as a teenager in the 1970s, to her first big tour, and finally to marriage, motherhood, separation, and reconciliation. It's a beautiful, and sometimes ridiculous, exploration about acceptance and forgiveness, told in the best of storytelling tradition with song, slapstick, and filled with laughter. MOMENTS OF JOY will open in the Studio Theatre on Thursday, September 9th - Saturday, 11th at 7:30pm, followed by a Sunday Matinee on the 12th at 2pm. The second week of the run will begin on Tuesday 14h-Friday 17th at 7:30pm, closing with a Sunday Matinee on September 19th at 2pm. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for faculty, staff and seniors, and $12 for students. They can be purchased by calling the box office at 225-578-3527.
