VSA arts of Louisiana is a nonprofit organization and an educational affiliate of the John F, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. VSA arts of Louisiana (formerly Very Special Arts) was founded in 1974 to create a society where all people with disabilities learn through the arts, participate in the arts and enjoy the arts. The organization provides opportunities for year-round quality programs that strengthen the role of the arts in school curricula. The VSA arts of Louisiana Board of Directors is composed of parents, volunteers, civic groups, and representatives of business, industry, arts, medicine, education, law and government. Their common bond is an intense interest and knowledge in arts education for persons with disabilities. This group supports the efforts of VSA arts of Louisiana.
VSA arts of Louisiana offers its programs to all local education agencies and special schools.
